The pluralist teacher education program, Day School Leadership through Teaching, DeLeT, is recruiting for summer 2018. The year-long internship integrates intensive mentorship and four semesters of academic work at the Hebrew Union College. Graduates earn the California preliminary multiple subject elementary credential and a certificate of Jewish day school teaching. Yiddish Book Center: For Teachers and High Schoolers The Great Jewish Books Teacher Summer Seminar is a four-week program for Jewish day school teachers (high school and middle school). Working with leading scholars, participants will survey Jewish literature from the Enlightenment to the present day and develop new teaching materials, watch films, attend concerts, and go on field trips. The Great Jewish Books Summer Program, now in its seventh year, gives high school sophomores and juniors a life-changing introduction to important works of modern Jewish literature. In the five-day program, teens study with college professors, meet contemporary authors, and make lasting friendships. With video content, reading materials, and written exercises – such as imagining your ideal life at age 40 – the toolkit helps high school seniors reflect on their sense of purpose and contains step-by-step guidance on writing a meaningful college essay.
